Mark and Roberta West have been life long residents of the Wyoming Valley. The West's had numerous opportunities to work outside of NEPA in the restaurant industry, but chose to stay in NEPA to raise a family and find success in their chosen profession. With over 25 years of experience holding various positions in the food industry, the West's had a strong desire to open their own restaurant and share many outstanding family recipe's with their friends and general public.
Their dream was realized with the opening of the Grapevine Grille, located on Scott Street in Wilkes-Barre. The Grapevine Grille had great success from the start, featuring menu selections never offered in the area, live music with the area's most popular and enjoyable groups and duo's, and an upscale bar that offered all the top shelf selections found in big city establishments.
The West's suffered the loss of the Grapevine Grille due to a fire in late 2007 that destroyed the entire building and its contents. Their first response wasn't for their own well-being but for the many employees,
who would lose their livelihood. After a few days of discussions, Mark and Roberta decided to try again.
Mark and Roberta are pleased to be opening the River Grille @ the Waterfront in early February 2008. The River Grille will continue to serve menu favorites from the Grapevine Grille and will also feature brand new features prepared by new Head Chef, Frank Pisano, returning Chef, Louis Lello, and Pastry Chef, Rebecca Gabriel. The River Grille offers a wonderful opportunity for guests to enjoy the menu and surroundings. The property has many options allowing for exciting food presentations that include a beautiful three season deck overlooking the Susquehanna River, A smoke free environment with numerous areas for dining, a Bar area with four flat screen TV's and the latest in bar technology, and private rooms for intimate gatherings. The River Grille will also offer off-site catering and take-out.
The West's will also share their beautiful restaurant space with the local art community by featuring a rotating art exhibit throughout the restaurant. Every four to six weeks different artists works will be seen. There is no other casual restaurant in the area that will work more closely with the local arts community that will feature some of the most talented artists in the country.
River Grille @ the Waterfront will be open six days a week. Monday & Tuesday 11 am to 10 pm. Wednesday thru Saturday 11 am to 2 am / Saturday 4 pm to 2 am.
Private parties can be reserved seven days a week. Please contact River Grille @ 570-208-1282 for more information about the rotating art gallery and for general information. |
